Remember 7-11

Sometimes it might be tempting for us to think that.. God gives us affliction to help us learn spiritual lessons. After falling sick, there were a few times I was tempted to think in this way. Especially when my body is afflicted, I can't think properly... I was disillusioned and in confusion. But thank God for godly reminder. I remember that when I was first diagnosed, a dear sister came to remind me, that God is a good Father, and He will never use sickness to punish us, to help us learn something in life.

Where in the bible can we find assurance in this?

If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him! (Matthew 7:11 NKJV)

Thus that explains why the title of this post is remember 7-11! Hope this can help you to remember the Lord's goodness when you are afflicted.

Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent? (Matthew 7:9, 10 NKJV)

Recently I read a bible commentary on Colossians by Warren Wiersbe, one of my favourite authors. He said this, "wrong doctrine always leads to wrong living." We ought to carefully examine what we believe in, in order not to marr the beauty of God.

So what is the right way to think when you are afflicted. Sickness is from the devil. But God in His goodness will redeem and greatly redeem us, in our afflictions by giving us treasures of darkness. He will turn the situation around for good. He will restore the damage that the locust has caused. He will give new promises. He will give us more than life. As I was telling someone, I think God is not just restoring the quantity of my life, I believe He is even restoring the quality of my life! How amazing when we have hope. Though it is not an easy path, eyes of faith tells me, God prevails.

Remember 7-11!
