to live and breathe is truly a gift

Today, just another day.. Meeting friends, going to school.
Tomorrow, it will be a mystery. I really don't know what will happen tomorrow. But I am thankful that my heart is still pumping and I can still breathe.
Dunno why I am saying this but.. oh well.

Perhaps it's the many tragic news I read in the media. This person ended his life. Another person suffering from depression, can't face life anymore... Somebody is sick. Somebody met an accident. It makes me all the more wanna do something about my life. Today is truly truly a gift. So if you're feeling that everything is crushing down on you, take a breather, the worst thing that can happen is not very bad.. There's always hope.

The fact is that, we only get to live once, so let us truly live and not waste it away.

Tell your parents you love them
Forgive the one who hurt you
Cheer your friend up with a simple message
Take some time to talk to God

Cos tomorrow, it may all be too late. Who really knows what tomorrow holds?

Faith of little boy moved me today

Good morning world

This morning I slept at 5pm. Craziness. I just woke up. I left my computer to run to do simulation and when I woke up I checked my email. A friend of mine sent a mass email, the song Five Loaves and Two Fishes by Corrine May. I thought, nothing new? But when I watched the video, something got me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IP6Z_OpZqls

It is indeed a wonderful video. I am sure the creator of the video spent lots of time drawing the illustration! Thanks, whoever that is.

There was a picture of a boy approaching Jesus with his bread and fishes.

I was astounded. Though the song was nothing new. In this picture I saw the boy with all his confidence that what he had could make an impact. How many of us are like this boy who could say "Jesus, are you in need of food? You can take my food to feed them all." It's just the same as seeing someone very hungry and you're confident that your cookie can make them full.

Maybe his disciples were like "hey little boy, don't you know those are not enough? Can't you see how many people we have here?"

Do we even ask Jesus, if He's in need of our service? Often times we become too "humbled" by our limitations we don't even trust that the Lord is in need of our talents. And often times when we don't have confidence, we don't have confidence in God, not ourselves. We don't believe that God can use our talents, He can multiply it and He gets the glory, not us. It's all about Him.

The faith of that little boy moved me today. I wanna start asking the Lord to use me in the places of my limitations.

Scott MacIntyre "No Fear"

NO FEAR by Scott Mcintyre

and when we feel incredible fear
let us reckon that He's always near
did you ever think to say a word in prayer
you know that He will hear

and when we feel incredible fear
let us not shed one single tear
even when the road is narrow and confused
you know He'll make it clear

now that i know that
its gonna be alright tonight
he's watching with his eyes
i have no fear coz He's always near
to me he's right here by my side

i am afraid
when im lost at sea
and i cant be brave, no no
when i trust in me
these are the times in which
i called in Him the most
i know He sets me free

a lonely wonderer
walkin on in fear
fearing fear itself
you conquered it
and rose again
what is to fear

Pursue

Today I was reading passage from 1 Tim 6. I guess I have never really meditated on this one before... and found that it's such a great passage!

What is the very thing that you’re pursuing today?

In the first part of 1 Tim 6, it talks about contentment,..

“6 Now godliness with contentment is great gain. 7 For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. 8 And having food and clothing, with these we shall be content. 9 But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition. 10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.”
Firstly, godliness with contentment is great gain.

What a marvelous thing. When my cousin and I were chatting on facebook chat this morning. We were sharing how sometimes simplicity helps us to be in awe of many things. It’s true. When we are very rich, perhaps we don't appreciate the simple things in life and call it as blessings. See the contrast in poor people. Simple food they have, but their heart must have been filled with contentment for the blessing. They are called poor by the rich, but I don't think they are poor at all if they live a happy contented life. You just need to be contented with what you have. What can you bring with you when we’re dead?

We need to examine our pursuits. Are we spending our lives on pursuing over fleshly things? Do we want to get rich, so that our fleshly needs can be satisfied? It’s fine to be rich, but why do you wanna get rich for? That’s the important question. We need to take torchlight into our hearts, to seek whether we have desires to indulge in fleshly things.

If we love making money, then all our lives we will spend on ways to get the money, and it can destroy us, because it distracts us from the other important things such as family, friends, and spirituality. Well, then in the process when we can’t get what we want, perhaps we go into depression and sorrow. Then you ask yourself? What is it that you really want??? Happiness? If so, you don’t need money to be happy. You need to be contented, to love, to be happy.

“11 But you, O man of God, flee these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness. 12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.”

So, the bible talks about our pursuit towards the more important things. Righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness. I think God made us work, it is really not so much about the money, if not He wouldn’t have asked us many times in the bible, not to worry about tomorrow. He is the source of our blessings.

It is through working that our character is moulded, our righteousness is established and tested, or godliness is practiced, our faith is exercised, our love is required, our patience is stretched and our gentleness perfected.

So, when we're going into a career or study, what are the things that we're looking for? What are we pursuing? When we shift our focus, what ever we are doing right now (whether it is working, studying, or home making), let’s take the chance to pursue these things that are mentioned here, let’s not pursue a great career or achievements and riches. These are good, but there are more important things.

it's ok

I have learnt one thing in university.

It's ok not to have everything you want. It's ok to fail. It's ok to be broken. As long as you know how to pick yourself up. As long as in the process of breaking, your pride is broken.

And I thank God, really for walking beside me all these while, through the breaking, disappointments, have made me who I am today. Though still work in progress, but I really thank Him for the breakings. What can I say? God is so gracious and great. :)
